Keto Maps does not require an account or contact information to browse the app. We process technical information to deliver and diagnose the Service. If you choose to request a restaurant or contact us, we also receive the information you submit. This policy applies to the Keto Maps web, iOS, and Android apps.
All trademarks, logos, and brand names are the property of their respective owners. Keto Maps is an independent guide and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any restaurant, grocer, or brand listed.
If you grant location permission, Keto Maps uses your position to center the map, calculate distances, and show nearby restaurants. Keto Maps analytics events are designed not to contain latitude or longitude. We do not maintain a location-history profile. Your device, operating system, map provider, network provider, and any mapping or directions service you open may independently process location or network information under their own policies.
Map imagery is fetched from third-party map providers. The interactive map uses OpenFreeMap tile and font services. Detail map previews use the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s tile service at tile.openstreetmap.org. These requests disclose the requested map area and technical request information, such as IP address and browser or app information. A detail preview requests the area around the venue’s published location; it does not request your device’s GPS position. The native app identifies itself as Keto Maps in its browser request information. Provider records are governed by the providers’ own privacy practices, including the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
You can use the app without granting location permission, although nearby results and map positioning may be less relevant.
Keto Maps includes a barcode scanner so you can point your camera at a grocery product and instantly see whether it fits keto. The camera is used only while the scanner is open, and the barcode is read entirely on your device. Camera images are never uploaded, stored, or shared — the app reads the barcode number locally, looks it up, and stops the camera as soon as you close the scanner. You can use the rest of the app without granting camera access.
Keto Maps stores your settings and cached restaurant data locally on your device so the app works offline and remembers your preferences (such as your selected city and saved favorites). Keto Maps does not provide account-based synchronization for this data. Depending on your device and settings, operating-system backup or device-transfer features may retain or copy it. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes the active app-local copy; it may not remove copies already retained by your operating system’s backup or transfer service.
Keto Maps keeps a limited local record of feature use for testing, such as opening a screen or restaurant card. This standalone analytics record excludes raw search text and precise coordinates, and its network transmission, including PostHog forwarding, is disabled. This is separate from error diagnostics: a report sent after an error may contain recent navigation, interface interactions or network-request context as described below. Requesting a restaurant also sends the text you choose to submit. We will update this policy and obtain any required consent before enabling network behavioral analytics.
When you choose “Request this spot,” Keto Maps sends the restaurant name you entered, your selected city or area if available, the submission time and the request type to Formspree, which delivers the request to us. The app also attempts to save a local copy. Requests received by Formspree can remain in its submission archive and in email copies delivered to us. This submission does not include device GPS coordinates. The text field can contain whatever you enter, so please avoid including personal or sensitive information that is not needed for the restaurant request. Formspree also handles technical information associated with receiving the network request. Submitting a request is optional; you can browse the app without doing so.
If an error occurs, Keto Maps may send a diagnostic report to Sentry. Reports can include the error message, stack trace, app and browser version, page or route, and recent context such as navigation, interface interactions, console messages and network requests. They can also contain random diagnostic identifiers that relate error reports from the same running app or page; these are separate from an account or advertising identifier. Keto Maps disables Sentry's default personal-information collection and removes the event's user fields and request cookies, body and headers before sending. Those controls do not remove every possible piece of incidental information from error messages, URLs or diagnostic context. Some earlier builds also send automatic session-health reports containing technical session identifiers, timestamps, status and app version. These automatic reports are being removed from updated builds; error reporting and its diagnostic context remain. Reports are used to diagnose and improve reliability. Sentry also processes technical information associated with receiving network requests, such as IP addresses; removing fields from a report does not mean that no network information is processed.
The app and its endpoints are served by Vercel, our hosting provider. Like virtually all web hosts, Vercel's infrastructure processes standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the app and protect against abuse. We do not use this data to identify or profile you. Vercel's own practices are described in its privacy policy.
We process technical data to provide requested features, secure the Service, prevent abuse and diagnose errors, and we use restaurant requests to review suggested additions. The active app-local copy of your preferences remains until you clear app data or uninstall; operating-system backup or transfer copies may remain separately. Restaurant requests and diagnostic records sent off the device are separate from these local records; clearing or uninstalling the app does not delete them. You can contact hello@ketomaps.app about retention, access or deletion of information that can reasonably be associated with you.
When you tap Directions, Reserve, or a restaurant's website, you leave Keto Maps and open a third-party service (such as Apple Maps, Google Maps, a reservation platform, or the restaurant's own site). Some product photos are requested from Open Food Facts at images.openfoodfacts.org when you view product cards or details. The map-app chooser can load app icons from Apple’s image service at is1-ssl.mzstatic.com before you open a navigation app. These requests identify the requested image and include technical request information such as IP address and browser or app information. They do not upload your camera images. Some images are bundled with the app. Restaurant logo hotlinking is disabled. These services have their own privacy practices.
Some laws define dietary preferences or location associated with health-related activity as consumer health data. See our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy for additional disclosures and rights.
Keto Maps is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Service, contact hello@ketomaps.app so we can review the information and the request.
The Keto Maps iOS and Android apps behave the same way as the web app described here. If we offer optional paid features, payment is handled entirely by Apple (on iOS) or Google (on Android); we never see your payment details.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information about personal data processing, and to appeal certain decisions. Email hello@ketomaps.app. Because Keto Maps has no account and generally cannot connect a random installation identifier to a named person, we may need information from your device to locate a record and may be unable to verify or fulfill a request that cannot reasonably be linked. You may also erase the active app-local copy by clearing app data or uninstalling. This does not erase records already sent to us or third-party services, or separate operating-system backup or transfer copies.
We use HTTPS, data minimization, allowlisted analytics properties, and access controls intended to protect information. No method is completely secure. Keto Maps is operated in the United States, and its providers may process data in the United States or other countries under their applicable safeguards.
If the app's behavior changes in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this policy and change the effective date before that change ships.
